Decorate On a Budget

As a family of 5 with only one main income provided by my husband, it’s not an ethical choice for large chunks of our paycheck to go toward decorating our home. But that doesn’t mean I can’t have a home that we are proud of. I wanted to share with you some tips and tricks to decorating a space you will love.

DECIDE WHAT STYLE YOU LIKE

What style speaks to you? Vintage Country Cottage, Farmhouse, Bohemian, Mid Century Modern, Costal, etc.

Once you’ve taken a deep dive down Pinterest’s beautiful archives of interior design. Decide what style would work best for you and your family. Make a list of things that stand out you, things that you would love to have but are a bit on the pricey side.

Whether you are D.I.Y.ing or sprucing up a secondhand find to be willing to get your hands dirty. Sometimes a good wash and a buffing can make all the difference. Other times you may need a little more elbow grease, sandpaper, paint or stain.

Just remember, your home doesn’t need to be picture perfect, it needs to be you! It needs to be lived in and love well. It’s OK to have furniture and decor that isnt straight from a magazine, the pieces may have dents and scratches but it has a history! It has a story to tell!
